Myspace, whats new about it? It was all there before Yahoo! for example with its chat, photos, webspace, groups and email all packed into MyYahoo! whats the differance? Someone has just put 'old wine into new a new bottles'. Where did all the interest suddenly start from ( ... )

My understanding is that music has been one of the main drivers for the adoption of Myspace, you'll find that a heck of lot of unsigned/minor label bands have pages on there. Of course, as the linked article suggests, it's pretty much restricted to under-30s at them moment and it's an open question as to whether it'll break into the older internet users market.

Not withstanding WWII, Australia has been tied into the East Asian economy for some time, Japan in particular. Of course for a long time this wasn't reflected in the composition of immigrants, mostly British then in the postwar period East/South European. Now of course, that's changed (partly because they eventually dumped the "White People Only" immigration policy). I don't know if the rightwingers in Oz also claim that the country is now "full up"? Additionally, you have the creeping increase in tension between Australia and Indonesia (the world's largest Islamic country by population, not that you'd know it from the UK news where Islamic=Middle East).
