So... I don't know if I follow exactly what happens now that the king has passed on.

Do we vote on a new one?

I don't think it will be that simple.

... I didn't think voting was simple, actually.

But everyone seems really worried about who becomes the next king. It might be better to hear what the townspeople have to say rather than wait on other people to make the decision for us. Well, maybe... I could be wrong.

It seems an easy solution, but do you think those who lose the vote will be content and stand aside?

Oh yeah, true. I didn't think of that.

So no matter what, people are going to be disappointed? That's kind of upsetting.

In your dreams, kid~

They don't call it a monarchy for nothing. ♥

Monarchy, huh? Could things change? People seem so worried about who's going to be the next king.

Soo~ change would be good? I'm thinking it'll be messier, everyone wanting to be king.

You...You're joking, right?
We live our lives under one king, and when that man passes one of his son's shall rule...Were you not aware of this, child?

No, I was aware that a son would take over, but there are four of them, so I figured I'd ask.

Hm. I suppose...you do have a point there...
I...and I don't like to assume things, mind you, but I assume that the eldest would take over...
Prince Jephry said an heir was to be announced soon, and it looks as if it will be him.

Oh, really... I think I remember that. Well, I guess there's no point in discussing it if it's all already set, huh?

Haha. Do as the greeks did? Perhaps that would be a very healthy experiment for the kingdom.

Voting makes us Greek?

Voting would indeed make this land a republic, to a certain degree. The best example of which is would be found in the world of the ancient Greeks. I don't think it would be an unfortunate change.

In fact, since you suggested it, maybe you would like to help me test it out?

It is simple. His eldest son will succeed him.

It was just weird, since some people don't seem to believe that, or at least don't want to believe it.

Strange, indeed. Should it not be expected?

Maybe it's the shock of the king's death that has everyone all confused.
