Hm...

Word has come of the King's death.  I suppose such a thing was inevitable, given his age.

I wonder if succession will follow the usual course.  I suppose the eldest son will now become king...

I wouldn't be so sure of that.

Oh...? What makes you say that?

And who might you be?

A friend of Prince Miles, if you will.

Have you been hiding under a rock?

I see... Do you think Prince Miles will become king, then?

Tch. Hardly. I'm rather isolated here, and I have better things to do with my time than sit around memorizing the names and positions of people who are miles away. If I come to the court, I'll attend to such things then.

Why wouldn't he?

As a knight, you're trained to expected the unexpected, are you not?

Correct. But I'm also trained to know the difference between potential rulers and worthless maggots. Prince Jephry happens to be of the former.

A knight blinded so pathetic by hero worship. Such an easy target.

It's a tad presumptuous to say that the eldest will become king. I think it'll be the strongest one, though which of the four that is remains to be seen.

Well, that is the usual way of things. If things are otherwise, it will be much more interesting...

In a boring existence such as this one, something like a battle for succession would be rather entertaining to watch, would it not?

I agree. It would be something to observe keenly...

Unless he's a total nutcase, probably. Which one was he anyway?

I believe Prince Jephry is the eldest. I do not know him personally, so I cannot comment as to whether or not he is a nutcase.

You can know one of them personally? Geez, I dont even know how many there are these days.

I am sure that some people do. What makes you think Prince Jephry is crazy?

Maybe.

But no one's really sure yet.

So, it is not so clear what will happen, hm?

If it was, things wouldn't be so... tense? I guess.
