I think age is the least important in regards to who will be our king. At this point, it all comes down to who's most qualified in terms of how he'll benefit and make better our kingdom.

I find it odd as well. He never seemed very interested in the crown before this. Perhaps the death of his father has instilled some sense of duty in him.
