I believe someone mentioned this before... but to reiterate-- I doubt flipping a coin to determine an heir with four potential candidates would work.
Furthermore, I doubt the losing princes would agree with a loss using such an arbitrary method of choice. I doubt their supporters would support it either. Let's say hypothetically that support of each of the princes is equally divided: With 1/4th supporting the prince crowned king, the Kingdom will still have a very angry remaining 3/4ths of the population. The majority could bend together and completely overwhelm the minority.
