So the funeral preparations are supposed to start today. How are you all contributing? It's looking to be a really gigantic procession, as I'm sure everyone from Narborough will be there.

[Filtered, to Church people]Who's writing the funeral rites and all that? And who's going to be saying them in two days? The Bishop is in town, but we can hardly ( Read more... )

If you write something, I can say it? I'll guarantee that my rendition won't be boring, in the very least.

...I'm afraid our Bishop is rather careless about these things.

Well, then he can't object to whatever we do, right?

I would be honored to serve in whatever capacity you wish of me.

Has it been decided who's doing what yet, Brother? It wouldn't do for the nobles to get a poor impresssion of the Church by appearing unorganized.

Ahh, I believe Rabi said he would write the funeral oration, and then either you or I will recite it. Then you can say a few passages from the testament. And of course, your alter boy can carry the incense? We also need someone to crown the cadaver before the closing of the coffin.

[I did a lot of research, or well, TRIED TO, but there's not a whole lot of information on the rituals of Medieval funerals. This website has some stuff on the Medieval funeral oration, there's a few rules here under Sacred Law (though I'm not sure how much of that applies since it's the king who died), and this is an account of an actual funeral, though that particular duke was a little unorthodox, it says.]

Very good. You can recite the oration, I'll find some appropriate passages, and I can also crown the body. I have no qualms as far as touching corpses go.

[Wow~ great stuff! &hearts]
