Not all denominations were named after a person (as it might seem). For example, the Roman Catholic church called the evangelical Germans Christians "Lutheran" as a pejorative term. The Germans didn't pick the name for themselves. They didn't want to split off. They were excommunicated from the Catholic church.
That said, I totally understand your frustration. The church is made up of sinners, and church is for sinners... but at the same time the mojorty of churches seem to have become hostile towards sinners. It's messy.
I could go on for years about how each denomination or religions movement is retarded and dysfunctional in some way or the other. But the most basic reason they’re junk, is the fact that there are even denominations in the first place. I mean, when did it become okay to start following the teachings of men before God, and then make it so blatantly obvious by naming our churches or movements after those men instead of God?
Boy do I understand your frustrations. I've shared them the past several years. Just a suggestion, but have you ever considered looking into the pre-denominations church? It has been, isbeing, quite an adjustment for us, but we have found what we are looking for in the Orthodox Christian Church.
