“In one aspect, yes, I believe in ghosts, but we create them. We haunt ourselves.”
-Laurie Halse Anderson
The power is out. It's a good thing I had battery for my laptop, and most of our cabin had our things charged, but Reika-chan who didn't, is now panicking over the loss of her designs. There are also spooky noises outside, which I am ( Read more... )

Does this sort of thing happen often here?

Not the power outages. But it's rarely uneventful around here, I'll say that much.

I'll be sure to keep that in mind.

Do you plan on attending lessons while here? It might be useful if you have no experience in defence or in mythology about monsters, because knowing monster mythology is quite useful on a quest.

[ooc: Yanagi is in the minority that goes to almost every lesson]

Are you going to huddle by candlelight? Or by the glow of all your computers? That sounds romantic.

Candlelight is a firehazard waiting to happen with the flailing sure to happen every time something moves in the night. We are going to stay true to stereotypes and stay awake to the light of our computers and phones until they die on us, one by one.

I'm sure you'll forgive me if I don't sound sympathetic. The moon is a beautiful source of light. You should dance under it together. Dancing makes ghosts go away, you know.

It's a little cold for moonlit dancing. And I rather fear that would make her more worried about summoning spirits.

Oh!!! An urgent matter? Is the collective body temperatures of your cabin mates dropping at an alarming rate? Do you need Sanatata to spread his natural overbearing heat through the cabin lest you all freeze to death?

No, it's for Sadaharu and his machines. My cabinmates will not die from the cold.

Well if that does happen, you should just abandon them and come defrost yourself with me and Seiichi.

I told Robot-Inui-man that he could just charge things in the main building... but I screened it because I got suddenly very shy at being very helpful.

I will be sure to, though I may drag my favourite sibling with me.

Ah, that's helpful. Still, I am interested in whether Genichirou's power can be transferred and used as a viable source of energy. The main reason we do not use lightning generators are because of the sporadic nature of lighting, so when it comes on demand, I wonder how easy to harness it will be.

I'm rather surprised your cabin isn't solar powered, Yanagi-kun.

recluse_cicada November 3 2014, 23:50:53 UTC
It would be useful, but unfortunately expensive, since solar power isn't something that mainstream industry is willing to buy into.

tsumetaiyuu November 3 2014, 23:54:24 UTC
DIY, Yanagi-kun. I'm sure you and your industrious siblings could do it.

Perhaps so...it's something to look into, should circumstances because less busy. I imagine it would be a good investment, but it would involve a start-up fund.

How can I help?

recluse_cicada November 3 2014, 23:52:14 UTC
I was wondering whether we could try and create a spare storage unit of electricity in case something like this occurs again? I wanted to try and channel some of your lightning into Tesla Coils for Sadaharu, because he would get electrocuted if he tried an experiment like this.

Like a battery?

I don't mind, but you should wear protective gear as well.

Like a battery, yes. A little more largescale though, and not involving the chemicals in a traditional battery.

Thank you. I'll be sure to.
