I was fascinated by your need for intense experiences and where it has led you. I was especially interested in the parts about fragrances. I had never thought about perfumes in such ways.

The idea of scent painting such a vivid picture for you almost sounds like synesthesia, except that I think that occurs for most people to some lesser degree. And it really IS mysterious how we process scent and what it makes us feel.

I loved the quotation from the journal here. That is such a vivid description, and clearly written by someone with a passion for the art.

Having a very sensitive nose, I can relate to a lot of this, including seeking fragrances. I know I smelled dozens of colognes looking for the one that was "me." I found one that has since been discontinued, so the hunt began again.

But the aroma of something can transport in a way that even sounds and sights don't so much power, so many feelings and memories.
