Brief summary:  Post-series, Blair was kidnapped, tortured and dropped from a four-story building on orders of one of Jim’s enemies.  As a result he’s suffered permanent brain damage in the form of amnesia.  Jim has resigned from the PD and they have become lovers.  Their new life together is fulfilling.  Out of the blue they receive the shocking news that the man who ordered Blair’s assault might be getting a new trial on a technicality, and could be released.
