While Byakuran took very good care in ensuring the Millefiore building was well-decorated to his tastes, it wasn't often that he actually stayed for any particular period of time. Instead, he wandered in and out of the offices as appropriate, preferring only to meet select clients and employees inside of the actual building.
Tonight, though, he had taken his time to return to the offices after hours, satiated after a full meal at the restaurant he'd first spoken to Shouichi at, in fact. This time, of course, it had been alone. He often liked to go there to think and there were a few proposals that he had to consider in peace. And there was nothing more peaceful than two servings of the restaurant's best pasta.
How strangely coincidental that in returning, though, that he'd bump into one of the faces he'd just been thinking of.
Byakuran smiled as the doors of the elevator opened to reveal a familiar face.
"Ah, Shou-chan, I didn't realize you were here still."
It shouldn't have been surprising that the elevator opened up to reveal Byakuran's face, but it was. Shouichi blinked, his eyes widening in surprise. "Byakuran-san. I was just leaving." Shouichi slipped into the elevator and noted that the button for the ground floor was already lit. Byakuran must be leaving just now as well. Shouichi checked his watch. "I stayed later than I thought." Though not later than Shouichi had expected, maybe a half an hour more work than he had put in yesterday.
Byakuran hummed appreciatively at the hours Shouichi kept. The other was quite the worker bee, wasn't he? Throwing himself headlong into the job at a break-neck pace. There was no better thanks Byakuran could ask for than the determination and thoroughness with which Shouichi was already working. And to stay this late so consistently? If he kept it up, there would be no issue with Byakuran going through with his plans.
"Working hard as usual, then? You had security worried for a while there." More than a few video files from the surveillance system had been forwarded to his laptop in the first few days Shouichi had been on the job from security workers who had found his dedication almost suspicious.
"I noticed." Shouichi shrugged. "I'm a new worker logging extra hours. They shouldn't really be that surprised should they? The start of a job is when people are most pressed to impress." Though Shouichi stayed later than people did when they were trying to seem well rounded and impress the boss. Shouichi really, truly enjoyed his job though, and the things he was working with at Millefiore & Co were challenging. There were whole systems of machinery that would be better put to use recycled than in use, even if the Millefiore was shiny and new. Shouichi wasn't sure who had been in charge of buying some of the equipment, but he hoped they were fired by now.
"You're here late as well, Byakuran-san, did you have a busy day?" Shouichi turned slightly to give Byakuran more attention as the floor levels slowly blinked, a countdown to 1.
