Had an idea for an Android app, and I suppose it could be ported to iPhone, but it's not something I'm as familiar with ( Read more... )

I got a BlackBerry Curve 8530 the other day. Saw that those types of apps are supposed to be available, but I don't think they are. I'm always using the free ones, though these were supposed to be free. They didn't work, though.

Yeah. Like I said. You can get an app that performs one function, or the other, but not the same.

The "Scan" apps just try and help you find good prices, or *maybe* generate a list.

The "Recipe" apps want you to manually input all the data.

Getting from point A to point B shouldn't be that hard, but I haven't seen anyone else do it.

The biggest challenge to me is that I'm really not a programmer. I worry that anything I could put together would look like crap

I worried about this for far too long... then I looked what "programmers" produced... fucking spaghetti code.. more than I would ever write.... fuck it... us in the trenches hackers are just as good as most programmers :P

You're better at it than I am, and we both know it.
Shell scripting is about the limit of what I can do, and even that is a stretch 90% of the time.

I'm looking at the Google App Builder tool, which specifically is used to create apps for Android.

I'll also need to reach out to the recipe folks to see how they did their piece. No point in re-inventing the wheel
