But srsly, I like Campbell best of those (very serious) options. What's this for? Are you going to publish something (outside our little circle, that is)?
I like Lowry and Lindsay just for the way the L- sound rolls after the -ka ending of the first name. That's also precisely why I don't like "Campbell," because the -ka there is too close to the -ka sound in the 1st name.
Not that I have any weird aliteration tics about names or anything. :P
Lowry jumped out at me as the nicest-sounding/looking one as I skim-read, but I also agree with this - it always bothers me when that kind of recurrence of sound happens; it's like it's a tiny little bump in the pronunciation that has to be negotiated every time.
I actually have this a bit with "Rebecca Gordon" as well - I think it's the back-of-the-mouth pronunciation of consonants like hard G and C that does it. "Kneale" is different because of the "K" being silent... also, it's a surname with nice writerly provenance. :)
Of course there's the Google test as well, but if your favourite one fails you can always add a middle initial (that's why I do that for my professional name)...
i am thinking of creating a pen name at the moment. At is hard, because i want a name that will fit the market i am selling to and at the same time reflects my personality. i think i have my first name, but i cant think of a surname. but then again do i need one?
