We had to have Amy put down today. She deteriorated rapidly overnight and we had to weigh up whether we were keeping her alive for ourselves and Christmas, or whether she had any chance of recovery ( Read more... )

I am very sorry for your loss... but remember that you had given Amy a good home and a good life. Always cherish that.

Oh, bb, I am so sorry. ***hugs*** There's nothing cowardly about not wanting to see the very end - grief is different for everyone, and there are many, many people who don't want to see a loved one (animal or human) dead, because that's not how they want to remember them. They don't want to carry that image around. And that's OK. There's no wrong way of doing it. You loved that adorable dog to pieces, and nothing can change that. You took wonderful care of her and gave her the gentlest and most merciful end anyone could give. It's a heartbreaking loss, cry all you need to. Lots of hugs coming your way. <3
