From a Western, European perspective: closing the pay gap, for one. It's simply unacceptable and one of my hugest bugbears.

More generally, issues with sexuality (objectification of women, a promiscuous woman being a slut whereas a man is a stud, rape victims being told that they were asking for it if they dress in 'provocative' manner).

In a worldwide sense, so very, very, very many aspects.

i have never encountered at my work level a difference in pay level between men and woman. but i wont deny at senior management level it happens. our country is notorious for slighting women in powerful senior rolls. i hate this country some times. Although, playing devils advocate.... ive never had a female boss that ive liked. In their desperation to be considered at the same league as male bosses, they turn themselves into high class bitches. Ive had four female bosses and two male, all the women were catty, bitchy and aggressive.

currently at our place there is two women Dean of Schools and one woman as Secretary (not PA kind) for the Vice Chancellor. And the latter is one major bitch.

there is no need for women in power to be bitches.

in regard to yourr last point totally agree!

Ha! Made me laugh because it's just so true. The little giddy fit in the NY Times about how *gasp* 33% of current young adult novels feature female protagonists means it's gotten "too girly" is my favorite recent example.

It's absurd, absolutely absurd! Not only is 33% laughably low, but it's actually a ~problem for switching from the male default.

And people even dare to suggest that male privilege doesn't exist. The mind boggles.

Oh I know. I was just like "Seriously? Books are too girly now? And yet to this day female authors use their initials to avoid scaring off male readers. WHAT?

Exactly. There totally is.
