I am in the creative and brain storming process of writing book 2in my novel series (since I don’t have a computer where I am baby-sitting at) . . . I was reading Outwitting Writer’s Block, I have mentioned the book before and it suggested to interview my characters. . . so Tom and I came up with questions for a better character ( Read more... )

I must say you two came up with some really great interview questions. I didn't know if you wanted answers from a character or not, so I just did myself. I could use a character I've been working on and redo it, but here's what I have for now: http://edieblank.livejournal.com/5500.html
I hope my answers are somehow helpful.

You could use yourself or a character. . . it doesn't matter most of my characters come from some aspect of a real person.

1. How are you? I'm actually well, thanks.

2. Who are you? I am Melissa. I live 20 miles outside of Dallas. I am a writer. I am a coward, not a fight, disguised as a lover.

3. What is your family like? Friends? My family: well, my parents can be amazing. My friends: they are my world. I would be absolutely lost without them.

4. Favorites
Foods: Italian. Macaroni grill. yummy. :)
Color: black. I'm not gothic. I just think it's so classy.
TV Show: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia or Chelsea Lately.
Band: Jack's Mannequin & Something Corporate. Hey, I love Andrew McMahon, haha.
Game: I love 20 questions or anything of that nature. very funny.

5. Hobbies: writing, reading, painting, blogging. haha.

6. What do you to relax? read or write something peaceful.

7. If you had three wishes what would you wish for and why? (By the way, no wishing for all the money in the world and no wishing for more wishes.) 1. To be completely healthy. 2. A 2010 Honda Accord Coupe (RIP my old one that was killed last month). 3. A less puzzling, ( ... )

Wishing for all the money in the world! What a horrible thing that would be; all the money in the world would make a person a prisoner in their own wealth.

I have several books that contain character questionnaires, although there are a few questions in yours that I haven't encountered before. I think, next time I create a character, that I should put all those questions together!

I never thought about being a prisoner of their own wealth, I just thought that wish would make things really boring.

I make profiles and question for each type of story that I write.

Well, I've seen enough in my life now that I wouldn't mind things being a little more boring; my life's been plenty exciting enough, in its own way. But what would bother me about extreme wealth would be becoming known for it; having to worry about con artists, and whether people liked you for your money, and being trapped in your own home by paparrazzi. Everyone thinks they'd love being filthy rich -- but most people don't stop to think of all the implications.

Not that I wouldn't want to try being a *little* rich.

I just want a few banks full where I can go and splurge when I finish a book or travel when I need inspiration, and I want no more debts and good credit.

Ooo! I like this. :)

I'm definitely going to use it for molding some of my (rather unfortunately) underdeveloped characters. Thanks for posting it!

No problem, but I can't all of the credit. I found the idea from a writer's block book I am reading.
