Today, Tom and I had a great day until our picture frame broke. . . We went out for a nice lunch, we had a ncie bus ride, and we even had a very spiritual experience with the ghost of my grandma. (that is another blog) The day was sunny, and not too cold and not too warm.
Anyway we got back to the diaster of an apartment, put our doggy bags away for later and went back out to get some shopping in as we needed a few things to clean the apartment. (Tom started this art project and wanted a picture frame so I added to the list.) We get to the store and it takes us several minutes to pick out just the right picure frame. We put it in the cart and finish our shopping. . . the bitter old bitch of a manager puts the picture frame in a plastic bag with no protection. . . then she bagged the other things on top of the frame itself.
We get back to the apartment to find there was a broken piece of glass on the frame. . . Tom had the recipt and tried to return it, but then in front of a crowd the manager stated she was not letting him return the item and that he broke it himself. (Why would a man who took 20 minutes to pick out just the right frame, break it just a few moments later?)
So I am going to try to return it myself tomorrow, because I went online and read the store's return policy. I was livid by then so I wrote to the corp for Tom. . . This is what I wrote.
To whom it may concern;
On Friday April 29, 2011, my girlfriend and I went to the Family Dollar store on (I gave the location and number of the store) We purchase items several times a month from this store and have not had any problems before this. Today among our items we had purchase a picture frame which was not bagged propperly (it was single bag giving no protection for the frame itself.) I believed that the manager who had broken the frame when she bagged the other items on top of the frame. When we got home we found the frame cracked.
I had the recipt and tried to return the item and she told me in front a crowd that I had broken the item and she was not returning my picture frame.
I know the return policy and it states that if the item is not of my satisfaction, with the recipt I am allowed to return for an items of equal or less value or receive a complete refund for that item. I just want another picture frame (six dollar value.)
I was really offended and embarassed by this manager and I felt she was trying to flaunt her power in front of a crowd. I would look into who you hire as managers, because none of your customers should be treated like that.
I know the frame was only 6 dollars, but it was principle of the situation. She shouldn't have told off Tom in front a crowd, she would not return the item and that he broke an item . . . whatever happened to the motoo: The customer is always right?
There are so many other people out there who don't have a job and would be grateful to have and more qualified to do her job.
