There are some shows I love where I wouldn't want to have anything to do with the characters in real life. The Big Bang Theory, for instance -- most of those guys would annoy the hell out of me. I think I'd end up breaking House's nose at some point, too. Still, I think I'd enjoy hanging out with the characters from How I Met Your Mother and Fringe, as long as it wasn't on the days when they got too out of control.
If I was looking for really snappy dialogue, I'd probably want to go back to a show that's no longer on the air, like Buffy or The Gilmore Girls.
I like the Big Bang Theory, but I would kill Shelton if I met him. My 16 year old brother is very intelligent and sometimes acts like Shelton, we tease him about.
The guy who played Barney on How I Met Your Mother (Neil Patrick Harris) was one of my first crushes; unfornately he's gay.
I can't stand Buffy's scripts. . . I hated how they made their ugly vampires, except for angel, but they even made him turn ugly when he was feeding. To me vampires are sexy and seductive. . . not sparkly teenagers or ugly monsters.
My mom swears that we are the Gilmore girls, but I don't have rich grandparents and I can't be that anal. I ammore like the mother, and my mother is an even lazier version of the mother.
Well, the historical vampire was usually an ugly killer rather than sexy and seductive, so it could be argued Whedon was going back to basics. But at any rate, if you want great dialogue and characters, and fun storylines, I can't imagine a better place than Buffy and some of Joss Whedon's other series. Except, of course, Gilmore Girls!
Sheldon is a perfect example of a character who's great fun to watch, but who no sane person would want to actually spend any time with. Same with Barney, come to think of it ... although he's a much nicer person than he lets himself on to be.
I just enjoy Dr. House. . . I think it would be interesting to put Shelton and House in the same room.
When it comes to good dialongue I usually go to House. Although lately I have been watching more reality TV or playing video games. I script write as well as novel write so I can easily rewrite a scene.
