Title: Christmas with the Magnus’
Rating: G
Date: 13/01/2012
Notes: Yes I know, it’s January. I’m hopeless. This started out as Christmas fic for windandthestars, but it quickly veered off course. I don’t really know what it is, but I’d written too much of it to stop!

I love this! I think it's funny though that what makes me saddest is how well this shows Victorian Helen becoming modern Magnus. We never see that and you've shown it so well. There's this loss of not innocence but wide eyed child like wonder, because yes, Magnus has this insane curiosity but it's scientific and not at all the wonder that a child has. Will has it to some extent, but bubba!Helen and the holidays I think would beat him in this one. This theme reminds me a bit of 'Alice I Have Been' in Alice's marveling at the force her mother became around guests, the lightness and the energy ect ect.

It's cool too how you've almost mirrored her mother's death with the sourceblood in that both had profound impacts on her life and both were necessary in order to ensure the survival of her work.

Thank you! I'm glad you like it. It's a fic that confuses me cause it started as a first paragraph to something that grew into something on it's own - but into a something I hadn't planned or understood. So I never really knew what to do with it. That makes sense? It's just a weird little something that appeared.

I like what you've said about the loss of Magnus' child-like wonder. It wasn't a conscious thing but I can see what you mean and think that that is exactly what would have happened with the loss of her mother. Suddenly the world is a real thing, something that she now has to face with the protective buffer that was her mother now gone. Because for all that Gregory loved her, I don't think he was ever a 'buffer' of any great kind.

I totally stole that force from Alice I Have Been!! I have another fic that I've been working on (for which this fic is a sort of smaller, more character-study like version) since Christmas last year and that same AIHB mother-trait is in both Patricias.

Oh Lisa, you give me too much credit.

I love hate when that happens. It's always fun but frustrating as you're going along.

Yes!

Hehe <33333

I do not. You deserve all the credit.
