Mom wants me to join this writing contest, sponsored by Borders books. The criteria is pretty easy: It must be 500 words or under, must be typed and double-spaced, must contain one of three phrases: "I lied.", "She (or he) gave me that look.", or "Our family is different ( Read more... )

Well, there's the problem that, should I win, my parents will keep insisting to see my further works. And that ain't happening.

Yeah, that is generally my issue with entering. Mom keeps nagging about how I "never show her anything I write". Now, if I were to write something I LIKED, that I knew she wouldn't freak out over...

...I probably wouldn't show it to her anyway. Eew.

Weird that the prospect of reading it to a full crowd at the Convention center doesn't scare me at all, but showing anything I do to my parents is really creepy.
