We got a shiny new TV in October. To go with it, we got a shiny new Toshiba HD-DVD player. Well, Wal-Mart has gone Blu. I haven't invested a lot in HD-DVDs yet, but it still kind of makes me sad. LG makes a Blu-Ray/HD combo player. It can be yours for a mere $799.99.

My condolences. It definitely looks like the format war is now over, and HD-DVD lost. Also, the combo players are not a good value. At current prices, it actually costs MORE to get a combo player than one of each of the HD-DVD and Blu-Ray players.
