If people are choosing Dom or Krug over Cristal, in part because of the image Cristal has acquired by being associated with people who call themselves things like "Jay-Z," then yes, if people like that are boycotting the brand as ostentatiously as they once drank it (or poured it over someone's head), it is very likely to do the brand's image good with the people for whom it had become tarnished.

If you like Veuve Clicquot, I also recommend Argyle. It's another méthode champenoise sparkler with a similar ratio of pinot grapes. It's made 30 miles from my house and is inexpensive and yummy.
