I was bad...

Well, kind of bad. They were on sale, you see. You may be aware of my love affair with Riedel glassware. I have indulged myself twice (a pair of each whisky and Champagne), and I gave several pairs of the pink breast cancer glasses for Christmas. Then I went to Williams-Sonoma yesterday afternoon. More specifically, the W-S outlet store in Wrentham ( Read more... )

Riedel martini glasses? *covets* Well, you *are* being thrifty, so long as you insist that you were plannining on buying them at full price anyway, and just happened to find them on sale. ;)

The martini glasses are wee: 4-5/8 oz. You get so used to seeing the giant glasses favored by most bars and restaurants that traditional sized glasses look tiny. In any event, they are gorgeous, and I love them. By contrast, the wine glasses are ginormous. And I probably would have eventually gotten at least a single pair of them. The reason I'm a little sad about the lack of Burgundy glasses is that I have that fantastic Sancerre Rouge, which is a Pinot Noir.

But it was thrifty! Consider what you'd have to pay to get a pair of martini glasses and three pairs of bordeaux glasses at full price. $75 is entirely reasonable.

Wow. You are definitely a few classes higher then me when it comes to glassware. But then again, you enjoy wine on a totally different level than I do.

If I were dropping more than $10 on a bottle of wine, I might be more inclined to make sure that I had the appropriate "tools" to enjoy it properly.

I have devoted considerable time, energy, and funds to becoming a wine snob. :) For general usage, my free glasses from the winery tour and my heavy cut crystal from Target are more than adequate. The Riedel is for very special wines, such as the 2003 Sancerre Rouge I had tonight. That's the one that I cajoled the woman in the wine shop to find for me in the cellar.
