My area is currently in the middle of a really bad winter weather system. We had an ice storm late last week, and this week has been snowy. VERY snowy. It's more snow than most people in this city have ever seen in their lifetimes, and definitely more than I've ever seen or ever hope to see again!!!
To give you an idea of how unprecedented this snowfall is: I've been at my current job for a long time, and until this month, I'd only ever gotten ONE full snow-day off from it (way back
here). And that was only because two of my managers were out of town that week, and the manager left in charge immediately called a snow-day when they probably wouldn't have. So far, I've had one last week due to the ice, two this week due to the snow, and probably another one tomorrow! Sara brought her laptop and headset home from her job and has been working from home all week, but I don't have a work-from-home job.
I have tried to spend my free time well. I don't sleep in that late, get dressed every morning, and eat three meals a day at regular times. So far I've crocheted, read fanfiction, and read from my two books (Pictures of Adam and The Witch Elm). I've worked out, watched Golden Girls and Survivor reruns, refilled the bird feeder (which is now close to empty again), played with Mayim, done some jobs on Amazon M-turk, practiced for my b'nai mitzvah and had a virtual meeting with Rabbi B. about it. Yesterday I did a lot of work shoveling off the driveway and deck, but it's snowing too hard to do that today (and they're both already covered in at least 3" of snow again). I haven't been sleeping well because this weather's got me too stressed out, and I've been really tired and cranky all day today (and honestly, probably all week). I'm starting to go kinda crazy shut up in this house. My anxiety and paranoia are getting the best of me again. Mayim is sick of being stuck inside too, and she's been walking around meowing and driving us crazy. Tovah has been spending 20 hours a day on her heating pad.
The only good news is that TODAY is the last day with snow in the forecast! It's expected to keep falling until midnight tonight, and it probably won't melt much tomorrow due to cold and cloudiness, but the temps for Friday and this weekend are looking good. After this frigid weather, 50 degrees will probably feel downright tropical to me.
Hang in there, Rebecca!!!
