That new story of yours…I'm still thinking about it. It occurred to me that the Queen was just as revolutionary as Buffy, in her way, in that she freed young girls from bearing the burden alone. Every generation does amazing work moving civilization along, but the next batch that comes along tends to undervalue those contributions. To paraphrase Exene, "If it wasn't for your parents, you'd still be eating Wonder Bread. What are YOU going to do to change the world?"

And yeah. Most changes are evolution rather than revolution. Her big triumph - and at the same time her tragedy - is that she's empowered enough to change the target of the narrative, but not the narrative itself. But then, that's asking a lot of one single person...
