Day one prognosis: Sore feet.

So it turns out it's actually 7AM-4:30PM, which is indeed, a 9 hour day. Given I am paid by the hour, I'm disinclined to complain too hard about this fact.

For that kind of job I'd need a pocket full of batteries and a lot more audiobooks/podcasts than I currently possess. Then again, I get bored *very* easily unless I'm doing something actively creative (or being actively entertained, such as by a good book).

You wouldn't survive then: Headphones/Ipods/etc are forbidden as they are a safety hazard - because while you can still hear a shouted warning over earmuffs, you can't hear it over headphones... and this is an engineering workshop. Where they day you need to hear said warning, you really need to hear it.

Glad you like it thus far. :-)

And yes, make sure you keep good shoes on your feet throughout the job. Remember, you only get one pair of feet. They've got to carry you your entire life. Once your current soles start breaking down, don't scrimp: get you some more insoles right away.
