I have decided that I like getting up early on my days off from work. Mind you, it's still incredibly painful to my sleep-deprived body, but once I'm up and half-awake, I can usually manage to forget that my eyelids are still incredibly heavy ( Read more... )

I'm not sure yet. I saw they had some nice Freddie stuff that I don't have. I wish they had a better Broadway selection, though. I was contemplating getting a song or two from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, but I'm not sure if I will. I have until August 31 to spend my free song credits, so I'm sure something will pop up before then.

The Prodigy by Alton Gansky-- a sort of suspense novel that has something to do with a kid who creates miracles or something...

American Woman by R. Garcia y Robinson-- a historical novel (post-Civil War era, I think) about a white woman who ends up marrying a Native American man...

Shopgirl by Steve Martin-- because I was browsing the shelves and saw it, remembered that you'd mentioned it in your LJ, and decided to give it a shot...

and The Good Journey by Micaela Gilchrist-- another historical novel (1820's America) about a young woman who marries an army general and moves West with him, where he's in charge of "keeping the peace" between whites and Native Americans. I'm currently reading this one, and while it's not great, it has at least kept me interested for about a hundred pages. So there's hope. :)

Thunderstorms! I wish we got those... Weather? What is this weather you speak of? In the magical land of California, it's always 67 degrees... actually, it did rain today, but it was just that foofy mist that, in the world of precipitation, is the equivalent to our proverbial 98-pound weakling.
I hope you enjoy your books. I think it's ironic that I graduated as a lit major and I CAN'T READ ANYMORE. My attention span is just gone. I borrowed My Antonia from the library three weeks ago and I've read TEN pages. What's wrong with me? Bah. Brain gone. Must go watch Scrubs.

Ha! I've been that way for the past two years, I swear. The last books that actually kept my interest before now were the Harry Potter books. That's been it for ages. I think being a lit major involves too many papers and analyses, which killed your will to read. That's my hypothesis. ;)

No weather in California? I certainly can't say the same of Michigan! Especially in the spring and fall, the weather is sort of like a free-for-all wild card game. Right now it's just hot with thunderstorms moving through every so often.

Going to watch Scrubs is a marvelous idea. I'm all ready for season two to come out, though. ::taps foot impatiently::
