I think when a lot of people say "US out" they mean "US out, UN in". This would work, not instantaneously, but it would work just fine. The UN's presence (as opposed to the states') would lower resentment and increase trust. The UN would be willing, if we give them every contract in the reconstruction process. So, there are solutions that involve us leaving. I think so, anyway.

Just glanced on A.N.S.W.E.R's website, and on their lengthy explanation of the issues behind this coming weekend's DC march, they do not once mention the UN. In fact the only plan they mention regarding Iraq is to "End the Occupation of Iraq, Bring the Troops Home Now!" There is no mention of Iraq after troops pull out, of humanitarian and infrastructural aid.

I'm worried that the anti-war organizations have become nothing more than anti-bush politcal rallying machines. And while I hate Bush as much as the next guy, I hate to see one of my most passionate causes wrongly commandeered for politcal means.

And I do believe that the U.S. should come out, and the U.N. go in. More specifcally, I believe U.S. troops should be put at the dispense of the U.N. (like other, smaller, nations regularly do). I will aware, however, that Texas will approve civil unions before the military put its troops under U.N. command.

Don't worry. You're still liberal. Just intelligently liberal.

I have learned (from a wise man known as Eric Olsen) that political parties are for the shitter, and so are political spectrums. you believe what you believe, and you evaluate candidates and laws based on your beliefs, not based on political party.
