Sallie never changed how much she normally cooks for dinner, when planning out the menu for her three guests for the evening. She always over-prepares to begin with, and now with two extra places at table, it might all get eaten this time

This whole Christmas thing was odd to begin with in Peeta's opinion. Maybe it was the fact that even as he took books from their library to figure out what it was, he still returned home to District 12 where it was warming up into summer. He always had to check with the Bar when he appeared

Rue had almost forgotten about Christmas as she ventured downstairs from her room that morning. She'd been prepared to spend her day the way she usually did over by the fire- until she got a note along with her breakfast reminding her of Sallie's dinner and telling her to go look under the tree
