I've been meaning to write an update for a while, especially considering the tone of my last entry.  Something that always amazes me is how quickly we adapt to difficult circumstances; even a situation that seems unbearable at first becomes part of a new normal

Thanks so much! In two weeks, she is coming home for one day so her therapy team can assess the house and make suggestions for modifications. So she's a step closer to coming home for good.

So sorry to read of your Mum's sufferings. i know you have had a difficult relationship with her but that does tend to go by the way a bit when the chips are down.
Glad you have some wonderful friends and family.

It's still difficult but you're right, I'm willing to let a lot more slide right now because they need us. My mom and her mom had a terrible relationship too, but they never mended fences and my mom regrets it now. If for no other reason, I'm doing what I need to do because I don't want to have any regrets after my parents are gone.

Thanks, sweetheart. It does seem to get easier every day. I feel like I can finally take a deep breath again. Of course, this might just be a pause while the universe looks for something else to twat me upside the head with.

If I've discovered one thing, I return to my baseline happiness fairly quickly after an upset. I just need to remember it for the next time..and the next, and the next. Thanks.
