Mates of State as well as Belle & Sebastian are very good (Grisman, too). I just saw B&S with the L.A. Philharmonic at the Bowl.

belle and sebastian are lovely. I listened to them before bed last night AND I believe my friend Kent was at the very show you went to!!! He texted me after he bought his tickets - boastfully. I saw Mates of State a couple of months ago - they were so good I started listening to them nonstop.
