Thank you! It was actually my Mom's dress from 1975. Every bride I saw seemed to wear the same gown, with few variations, and I wanted something slightly medieval looking and romantic. After the wedding we had it converted into Christmas tree skirts for my mother and mother-in-law.
It's funny -- to see pictures of my Mom in the dress, you'd never know they were the same. She wore a full underskirt, so it flared out a lot more, and I wore mine without it, so it had more flow.
Congratulations on your wedding. My husband and I were supposed to get married on the same day, but Hurricane Wilma came to town on October 24th and cancelled our big day. We were finally married on December 10th, but all of our engraved items that we used at the wedding had the wrong date. We laugh about it now, but that was the most never wracking week of my life.
I am glad to see that you were able to start your married life on that date. Enjoy your renewal.
I love that you wore your mom's dress. I would have loved to wear my mom's dress for sentimental reasons but it was just so ugly. I did wear her veil though!
Thank you! It was raspberry chocolate and chocolate chip on different layers. Our favorite part of the planning was bringing home a dozen little "sample cakes" from the baker. :d
