hello!!

my name is kaylynn. i was married to my best friend last saturday, novemeber 3rd, in hendersonville nc - at his parents' house. our wedding was inspired by the movie william shakespeare's romeo + juliet, also by john paul gaultier's spring 2007 haute couture fashion line, and a bit by traditional french culture. of course, the setting was ( Read more... )

actually, i went to michael's and bought a $15 veil. i attached the tulle to a small headband i got at a claire's store. i knew i wouldn't wear the veil the whole time, so i figured, why spend a ton of money when i can get one that is pretty & still upholds tradition, for $20??? and it worked out!! :D

Oh wow! Your pictures are so inspiring! May I ask out of curiosity where you got your dress? Or if you or someone else made it? It is so unique and pretty. I also really love your hair.

thank you so much!!

the dress was actually three seperate pieces. i have tattoos on my back, chest, & arm, so i wanted to find a way to cover them. looking at full one-pieces dresses made me realize it was not an option.

i got the skirt from david's bridal, for about $110. it was a bridesmaid seperate. the corset was from fredericks of hollywood - it cost about $60, and i bought the blue ribbon seperately to lace it up. the shirt was $12, from ross, just a white cotton blouse that BARELY covered the tattoos. i used double-sided tape to keep it in place. it came out having a very spanish / european feel, i think.

thank you!! i was planning on getting extensions, but it didn't work out - my mom did my hair and it ended up looking okay. :)

I had a feeling your dress wasn't something full someone could just buy at the store. It was too unique and pretty with an ideal modern meets vintage feel to it. I really like it.

that means so much to me!! :) i wasn't sure about how it would turn out, since it was all different pieces... i'm glad to know it looked nice!

first of all, you are ABSOLUTELY STUNNING. i have roughly the same haircut as you and if my hair looks half as good as yours did, i will be thrilled to tears.

second, your dress is amazingly beautiful. so is your necklace. just wow.

third, great pictures...your friend is indeed very talented. and it looks like you guys had an awesome time.

congratulations! :)

thank you so much. :) my mom used a big-barrelled curling iron on the crown & back, and i sprayed it to death with got2b glued hairspray. i just used a flatiron on the front, and sprayed it too. it took about 15 minutes, total!!! i'm sure yours will look GREAT. :)

thanks!!! the necklace was actually a pin i bought at a really cheap & tacky old-lady store, and then fixed to a chain from michael's. i'm glad it came out okay - even though it loved to flip over. :(

she did a GREAT job. she's not a professional at all, but i think she did wonderfully. actually, my bridesmaid stephanie is getting married next month, and she wants to hire jesse to do her photos as well! i think she should start getting a portfolio together & do it as a sidejob. :)

thank you so much!!!!

I have to ask, about your bracelet and your shoes, love them, where did you get them, how did you make them?

Your colors are very close to mine and I cannot for the life of me find closed toe shoes I like. but I like yours!

the bracelet - i used the same ribbon i used for my corset laces. i picked it up at a fabric store. i have a tattoo on my wrist i wanted to cover. i used double-sided tape to fix the ribbon around my wrist, and bought a bracelet at claire's to wear over the ribbon.

the shoes - go to payless, and ask about their dyeable shoes!!!! a lot of people don't know about their program, but it's great. they have 3 or 4 different shoe options, and you pick whatever color you want. i think it took 2-3 weeks to get my shoes back, and cost around $40. but i can wear the shoes again, so it's worth it.

They'll dye it for you?? That's awesome!

I figured that's what you did for the bracelet I just wanted to make sure I was correct ;) Very ingenious

Great pictures! You're not too far from me, and I'm thinking about how you survived outdoors in November without wearing a coat over your gorgeous gown!

Oddly enough, my husband and I had planned to get married 11/3 also but the pressure got to be too much for me and we went to Vegas with our families in April. After seeing your pictures, part of me wishes I had gone with the traditional wedding, but I have no regrets!

Congratulations!

thanks!! it was really chilly once the sun went down. i had to go get a sweater during the reception. but there was a big heater on the deck, which helped. we ate inside, so that was okay. and the wedding was at 2:00 p.m., full sunlight - it wasn't so bad! i had all those layers of fluff under my skirt, helped me keep me warm. :) the weather was perfect during the ceremony.

i think we would've eloped if it hadn't been for his family. this is my second marriage [bleh] and i didn't really NEED a wedding, you know? my family didn't really care either. but his family [read:mother] really wanted him to have a nice, traditional, memorable wedding. and i guess i'm glad we did it. but i think we would've been satisfied either way.

thank you!!!!!
