Lesson 1

Feb 10, 2010 00:01

[ Appearing on the astral plane is a young man with an unmistakable look of curiosity about him, his head whipping to and fro as he tries to take in the mind-boggling view yet again from atop his stopped bike. ]

Wooooah...! So it wasn't just a dream after all! It's really here! It's like I stepped right into the cosmos! But... that can't be true ( Read more... )

{Laughs} Well, you are certainly quite a bit more on your way to discovering what it means than most! I cannot say that I bothered to investigate too many of the "whys" myself until my second or third time coming here! To no end, I am afraid, but as long as it presents no harm or conflict, then I cannot complain for the reprieve!

Hou, and "Plane-walking citizens" is far too formal, I would think!

There really is a Holy Grail? And... heroes are fighting over it?

In my world, there is! It is not the true Grail, mind you, but simply a magical machine that grants wishes. So! Of course many people would be interested in an object that can grant miracles! Magicians of the modern day are able to summon heroes of old, since we are the only ones who can seize it, but we need a magician to bring us back to Earth. I was summoned by a young man, the youngest Master even, I would imagine! He is a stubborn boy, but with a good heart. I am proud to be called his Servant!

Hmm, but I am more interested in the joys of battle than for a wish! If I should win it, then that is the spoils of my trouble and Waver and I shall use it well, but I would rather have the chance to fight those who can actually rival me in power! I have fought the God King Gilgamesh, seen the Gaelic lancer, and even shared drinks with the King of Knights! They may take it much more seriously than I, but there is nothing better!

[ writing this all down furiously because holy crap this is giving his brain an orgasm. ]

Wow. That's way more interesting than what the history books say! That's not to say your other campaigns weren't amazing in themselves, but this is awesome!

Oh, it is a secret in my world! And not a part of history, either. Ha, I have been dead for more than two thousand years!

Oh! Oh. Er.

My condolences?

{Laughs, clapping him on the shoulder jovially} Do not concern yourself with it! I have no regrets on my death! No man has yet rivaled me, so I have made myself immortal through my conquests!

[ OW MY SHOULDER but he manages to take the hit rather well. ] I guess that's true! Man, you have a really good outlook on this sort of thing!

It is hardly a concern of mine! I never had dreams to immortality, just to make my life matter. I did well with it, no?

Of course! That's why you're Alexander the Great, instead of... uh, Alexander the Mediocre, or something else.

oikoumene February 11 2010, 05:50:01 UTC
The Mediocre! Ha, I like that! It would be a cruel title, but perhaps for cowardly Darius? Hmm, no, I shall not disrespect him when he cannot be here to defend himself!

[ This has to be the coolest thing that has ever happened in Kintaro's life. ]

Darius? You mean Darius I, the Persian king? Come to think of it, wasn't he called Darius the Great, too?

Reply

oikoumene February 11 2010, 16:58:45 UTC
Ha, not quite! That was his great father, several generations before Darius III. That Darius would indeed be the Mediocre! I chased him to the ends of Persia as he fled! He was not enough of a man to stand and face me, so I brought myself to him!
