[HELLO PLANE! There's some rather pretty music floating around on the plane. It's slightly bluesy, slow-paced and melodic, and it's coming from an acoustic guitar currently cradled in the lap of one (1) Dorothy Gale, lounging in a lawn chair. There's a half-drunk bottle of beer sitting on the floor by the chair's leg, but she doesn't seem at all ( Read more... )

You play guitar? Really?

[she looks up, because she's never exactly sure which one she's talking to until she gets a glance at him-- and oh it's that one, so she just smiles a little and looks back down, continuing to strum absently]

I play a lotta things. Why's that so hard to believe?

It's not hard to believe. Just surprising.

[drops down, cross-legged near her] So. Go on, then. Play me something by the Beatles.

Oh, I'm full of surprises.

[smiling, she tweaks her tuning a little and starts playing "Here Comes The Sun", deftly and with enough care and delicacy to show that she's played this one quite often]

Is that difficult, then? The guitar, I mean.

[she manages a little shrug, which is her way of trying to be modest, when in actuality she is pretty good and she knows it. NOT THAT SHE'S BRAGGING OR ANYTHING. heavens no.]

Not really. 'S more intuitive than anything else. You can't play?

I don't think so. Maybe one or two notes, if I'm lucky. I'll just leave it up to people much better suited for it.

Aw, I'm sure you're not that bad. I could give you a few lessons, sometime, if you want! It's not too hard, once you get the hang of it.

[and she plays a little flair of a riff without looking. Okay, THAT'S showing off.]

[Unfortunately for you, Dorothy, music is as good as a magnet when it comes to a certain crazy vampire. Drusilla glides over with Miss Edith tucked under her arm and her head at what looks like an uncomfortable angle.]

That's very pretty.

[She smiles at Dru, because hey, crazy vampire or not, Dorothy is Nice. Especially when she is being complimented!]

Thank you. Want me to play something for you?

Mmmmmm, yes please. I do like music.

[Dorothy begins to play a pretty, slow sort of song with a waltz beat. When she sings, it's very low and sort of gravelly, and it's something Dru would like, in her gentle, swaying sort of way.]

[And it's sort of creepy.]

[just watches her because she's a creeper like that, listening to the guitar]

[She can tell SOMEBODY'S there watching, but she's not looking up from her guitar, and she doesn't mind someone watching, so it's just pleasant strumming now.

For the record, she's playing the White Stripes' "300 Mile Per Hour Outpour Blues". It's a very rainy, calm sort of melody. Something the TARDIS might appreciate.]

[she does, very much so, and after hearing enough of it, she begins to hum a counter melody to go with it]

[she looks up and smiles-- o hay it is the TARDIS! That's a hum you don't forget.]

Do you know this one?

I see you're adept at more than just folding clothes, then.

[Aaaaand because Dorothy doesn't know any better...]

Well, thank you, Ma'am. It's really just a hobby.

[pause]

Is there anything you'd like me to play for you? I'm in a mood to share.

Please. Just Lucy.

[smiles and takes a seat] Are you familiar with the Beatles at all? Maybe something by them?

[smiling]

Popular request.

[she tunes a bit and switches into "I'll Follow The Sun", singing along a little quietly but accurately]

One day you'll look to see I've gone,
For tomorrow may rain,
So, I'll follow the sun...

Some day you'll know I was the one,
But tomorrow may rain,
So, I'll follow the sun...

And now the time has come,
And, my love, I must go,
And though I lose a friend,
In the end you will know, oh...

One day you'll find that I have gone,
But tomorrow may rain,
So, I'll follow the sun...

[This certainly isn't meta at all. No sirree.]
