19- Nightmares and realities are one

[Jack appears on the Plane looking a bit ragged and worse for wear; his clothes are torn in places as well as dirtied, his hair matted down and sticking out at weird angles. Most noticeably however, is his weary expression. He's obviously exhausted, but despite this is alert]

[Jack Harkness appeared on the Plane, his one hope for a safe haven among ( Read more... )

...A sewer? Ne, Jack, that's not attractive at all. {Because you smell funny. Seriously. :(}

I guess Jack's world is odd too?

Neither is getting mauled to death. [At least he's not missing body parts]

'Too'?

{She nods} There's a bunch of weird things at home, like walking corpses mainly, but Josef is out of the camp too. It's odd, you know? But it's not terrible, since they're killed pretty easily.

....I can't kill them. They're not dead, they're people.

[Hei! In a lab coat and dorky glasses and looking about as tired as Jack.] You too?

Fair enough. [Jokes were, of course, the Captain's way of deflecting. He didn't want to seriously consider the circumstances in these varying realities, at least not now. He would go back to overworking his mind soon enough] I do not deflect! And I am not overworking my mind, damnit. I know my limits.

[o hay. Dorothy's investigating this mental narration phenomena, as much as she can, anyway. So here she is, accosting Jack with a thermos.]

You're getting the voice-in-the-head too? Seems like everyone around here does, but nobody knows what's causing it. Guess if we knew what everybody had in common, it'd be easier to figure out.

...You look like you could use a coffee.

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised I'm not the only one. And for all we know, the victims might just be picked at random.

[slight smile] Wouldn't turn it down. [There was no hesitation in his acceptance. Jack may not have necessarily been addicted to coffee, but it was a comfort he'd rather not go without. Soon enough he would have to return to navigating darken tunnels and dead ends. A warm drink was something he could use.]

......while I hate to agree with a strange female narration voice in my head, it has a point. You'd think it could have just said 'He wanted coffee'.

[Ever helpful, she unscrews the top of the thermos and pours him a steamy cup of joe] Is it a lady's voice? Now that's interesting. Wonder if it's that way for everyone affected-- though I wouldn't call 'em victims, I s'pose, it seems to only be annoying, as 'posed to actually harmful.

[smiling, she hands him the cup] I'm Dorothy. Sorta new here, I s'pose. I gather this sorta thing isn't 'zactly unusual in this place?

If they're realities are anywhere as screwed up as mine is, I'd think this goes past mere annoyance.

[Jack happily takes to cup, taking a drink before replying] Captain Jack Harkness, it's an absolute pleasure to meet you. And the zombies are new, at least.

[Ammy looks rather tired as well. She sighs in a long-suffering sort of way.] What have you gotten yourself into this time, Jack Harkness?

[For a moment, all Jack felt within him was a yearning for the sun. He'd spent so much time in darkness now, surrounded by walls and people who, more often than not, were on the verge of panic. The darkness reminded him too much of being buried underground. It was this that scared him most of all].....it wasn't my fault.

Oh, I am sure that it wasn't. Really, this whole situation stinks of the Twins.

Are you alright, Jack? Are you faring well?

'Well' isn't the word I'd use. There's a female voice narrating in my head.

Not the best week for any of us, it seems. [Pale, tired, disheveled and mud-spattered. Hi, Jack.]
