Well, no question that he's running from Toomey who would have creamed him in the GOP primary... and then promptly lost hard to whoever the Democrats threw up in November '10. Specter saw the writing on Pennsylvania's wall; it's a Democratic state now by and large, and he's saving his own ass. Pathetic, but I don't that Reid and the rest of the Dems are complaining.

Also, once Coleman gives up the ghost in Minnesota and Franken is seated, we will have 60 seats in the Senate. The GOP's ability to fuck with Obama? DONE. Enjoy it while it lasts. Me? I'll hopefully be enjoying having health-care in a couple years.

You really think that having a filibuster proof Senate is good for this country? You really think that having one party with complete control is good for this country? You're out of your mind. No one party should control that much power. Nor should I be forced to pay for someone else's health care. You, NOT the government should be taking care of yourself. I take care of my family, but you're on your own. My husband and I play by the rules, pay our bills on time and work hard for our money so why should we have to share it with others. We will donate our time and money how we see fit, not how the government thinks we should do it. It's called FREEDOM look it up.

Geezus H. Christ this country is going to hell in hand basket and people are freaking celebrating it's demised. You and people like you make me SICK.

*standing ovation*

The last thing I want to do is to pay for someone's bills because they refuse to get off their lazy butts and work for it themselves.

Republicans were fools for supporting this guy and putting him in powerful chairmanship positions all of this time. This guy is the lord king of RINOs and a sleazebag to boot.

That's been the party's problem for the past decade: not just putting up with the whiners but catering to them.

We need to learn to kill and eat our own. We have never mastered the Dems' ability to turn on our traitors. We better learn now.

I agree with this. They must be slaughtered (figuratively).

Oh, how I wish I were living in PA. I'd love to vote "R" on him in 2010.

I love how Specter justifies this (at least according to Gov. Rendell) by saying that he doesn't want Republican moderates banished from the face of the earth.

Yep - giving the Democratic Senate a filibuster-proof majority is a surefire way of giving them a voice, isn't it?
