The slow disintigration of GM begins

Can you imagine the outcry if a group of industry executives got together and decided to "oust" President Obama because they felt that he wasn't running the country correctly? How about if they then demanded that the replacement shed various federal agencies as a requirement for obtaining their blessing ( Read more... )

Don't understand all the millions of people out there who are lining up to buy the Volt? Why would anyone want to drive a Hummer?

I think Obama is going to use GM to make his cap and trade taxes work. First we put on cap and trade. Gas goes back to $4.00/gal or higher. People can't afford SUV's or Hummers. People buy cheaper cars with less profit per unit sold. Soon GM will only be able to sell Volts and it will prove that's what the people wanted.

I'm glad I own a Ford and Ford stock.

The automobile industry has to be kept alive to control the masses. Obama spent a lot of manpower getting the unions onboard. He can't let GM go under because bankruptcy would free GM from their union contracts. And all of those union bosses would be displeased.

But it's socialism! (That's what Bernie Sanders, avowed socialist, says, NTTAWWT if it WERE socialism.) Just because the government funds you and (as a result) decides how you are run and who runs you! Heavens no. It's, um, EuroCapitalism! Yeah!

GM murdered Pontiac when they discontinued the Trans Am and the Grand Prix in favor of building "cars people want to buy." As we all know, though, people don't actually BUY the "cars people want to buy." Not from Pontiac, anyway. Pontiac is supposed to be fun and sporty. It's not supposed to be sensible sedans.

I love my Saturn, and now I have to find someone else to maintain it because they shut down the Saturn place in my vicinity.
It's really too bad, because this car has the best fuel efficiency of ANY car I've ever owned. I regularly get 35mpg and on long trips with lots of freeway driving, can usually get 40mpg with it.
