Why are people referring to it as a landslide? Because he got states like Ohio (first time a dem. did that), Florida, Indiana, etc.
I was comparing the 2000, 2004, and 2008 electoral maps the other day and it definitly looks like a landslide. Whether it actually is or not you could debate but why waste your time? a win is a win.
I'm suprised you haven't made any posts defending Sarah Palin (I think you liked her better than John Mccain hence why I'm supried).

But anyways... I'm not so sure it's the percent that matters as much as the fact that:
A) Obama turned a bunch of red states blue
B) He won with 7 million votes more than McCain, whereas Bush only won with 3 million more than Kerry.
That, and Bush was a lot more popular in 2004 than he is in 2008, which is probably where the "united-ness" comes from.
And some other stuff like that :)
