You know the saying "Don't kill the messenger"?
The reverse is never said because it's one of the perks of the job.
However the point is the messenger doesn't know better. Al Gore however is the author of the message not a simple messenger. He dose know better.
However Al Gores fans treat him as a simple messenger.
The second is, The 1960's generation has long pushed my generation to "change the world". To change the world you first need to find something that needs fixing.
Kids with no real world experience looking for something to fix in the world because making the world a better place is the cool thing to do.
Our parents and our peers. You think peer pressure alone is bad. Here you've got nobody to turn to you and say "think for yourself".
Eventually you run into some dick who has already been put in his place but instead of admitting fault he turns the blame back on whom ever it was that stopped his activities.
