The only similarity between Iraq and Vietnam is the willing complicity of the MSM to aid and abet the enemies of the United States of America by misrepresenting the reality of the situation ( Read more... )

The internets in the 60s and 70s would probably have really consisted of trucks.

Back in the good old days (the 1980s) there used to be "seasons" on the Internet. Every September, for example, a flood of new freshman provided a target-rich environment for practical jokes and "newbie" bashing.

Then in 1994 AOL users provided both new meat and a remarkable level of spam.

Finally, about 1996 or so you simply couldn't tell when the "new" users started and stopped because there were so many of them.

Damned tourists.

Non-appeasement with North Korea worked. Kim Jong Il was spanked by his big brother China and apologized for nuclear testing.North Korean leader Kim Jong Il said Pyongyang didn't plan to carry out any more nuclear tests and expressed regret about the country's first-ever atomic detonation last week, a South Korean news agency reported Friday.
John Kerry can eat shit now.

I still plan to vote straight Libertarian in November, but this just proves that diplomacy isn't always needed in every situation.

I see some similarities between McNamara and Rumsfeld as well as too much media attention and public outcry that is not in the best interest of the troops. And after all, they are the ones fighting the war. I am ashamed of those arguing the war in the press. I also see similarities between the citizens of Vietnam then and the citizens of Iraq now. There seem to be many interests at play that are not in line with the ultimate objective. Finish the job and come home, good idea. Keep arguing in public and impede the military, not a good idea. If people would just do what they are supposed to, support the troops for real, we could get it done and redirect resources to other goals.

I don't think we've "let the troops fight" for a long, long time. They do extremely well when the politicians and diplomats get out of their way.

Wasn't the casualty rate of the Vietcon as a result of the tet offensive somewhere in the 5 figure range?
