Voting in Iraq

As the relative silence from the MSM tells you, it went off without much of a fuss.

Now we wait to see if the Iraqis voted for or against the proposed constitution.

Either way, it is another victory for democracy in Iraq.

iraq, bush doctrine, democracy

I was thinking the same thing. I saw a news story yesterday that implied that Iraqi opposition to this constitution was a failure of US policy. I thought to myself, it is a success just to have to process work. To have Iraqis settle their disputes by debate, negotiation and vote in the face of those violently opposed to democracy is a huge success regarless of the outcome.

Indeed, dissent is an essential component of democracy.

The reason for the relative lack of coverage of the Iraqi referendum vote by the majority of the MSM, imo, is that the Iraqi's just aren't "playing by the MSM rules", in that, the Iraqi's aren't doing what the MSM wants them to do, which is lay down for the terrorists by refusing to go along with this Democracy thing, and kicking the US out.
