Same thing happened to me when Verizon bought Alltel. Now I'm free of both of them (and Verizon's "we don't need no contract to hold you accountable for charges" billing).
Yeah, Verizon's billing is pissing me off as well. I love how I keep seeing 2-3 "butt dial" data minutes on each monthly phone bill.
Unfortunately the whole wireless industry has discovered that they can keep tacking on "data plan" charges and people keep paying. What the hell is that $70 a month base charge for? I'm supposed to pay extra for texting and "smart" features?
I'm only using 200 minutes a month for voice calls these days. I'd switch to Sprint (even though their coverage is crap) but their "all in one" pricing is per phone so 3 lines for a family is even more expensive than Verizon.
I can't believe people are willing to pay more per month for a cell phone than they do for a car.
I decided to go with Sprint, since I only have one line. AS for Verizon's data plan, I'd tell them to shit-can it, but they'll just get you with the credit agencies at the end, since they don't think they need your consent to charge you.
Might be time to look into a restructuring of the big three credit bureaus. "Either you start putting the consumer and businesses on an even footing, or we'll let the Democrats write the law."
I use Net10 for my cell, but I don't talk much on the phone, so after taxes I pay $17/month. ATT is my work cell, but I don't have to pay that one
