Honest misunderstandings are one thing, and can be corrected when presented with accurate information. But I can't abide a thief.
I agree: In general my friends are all over the spectrum, but some specific insensitivities (as I would label them) are simply beyond the pale. For example, if someone acknowledged that an 8-month "fetus" is essentially fully developed and viable, but that it should be legally killable nonetheless, I wouldn't be having a beer with that person.
I think these single-issue things are misleading. I likely couldn't be more than passing acquaintances with a serious, hard-core Marxist, or an ultra right winger, for that matter.
This, rather. I doubt I could be more than a casual acquainence of hardcore socialists, or members of the far religious right (I don't have so much a problem with the hardcore fiscal right.)
