My first instinct was that this was a mere photo-op but if that were the case I think they would have done it during the week and in conjunction with a push for "free" health care so people wouldn't go bankrupt in the evil for-profit system.

According to my mom, who says she's read up about this, Mr. Biden and his wife are the kind of people who do, in their private life, volunteer in soup kitchens. It's entirely possible to be an ignorant fool, chock-full of asinine ideas, and still be a decent human being.

One day people will look back at our quaint cultural parochialism that assumed that only cleverness (and cleverness of a certain glib stripe) was a virtue.
