What happened to those "salary caps"?

You shouldn't be surprised to learn that government agents (that is, people working in the quasi-government agencies of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, etc.) are "earning" millions of dollars for helping to promulgate one of the biggest frauds in American history. The people whose pay is being slashed is a) like, two dozen people in total, and b) all people who literally only have their jobs today because the federal government bailed them out and saved their companies from the implosion their failed leadership lead it to. For them to be complaining about any of this, while millions are out of work and being foreclosed on, is chutzpah of the highest order.

I personally would've let these companies go down last year, and have let these people lose their jobs for their incompetence and hubris. But they wanted a bailout-- which you supported and which has the market at big #s at this point-- and now they are crying because someone is attaching minor strings.

The socialists in government are hypocrites. That doesn't change because of the number of people involved.
