Chris Matthews: Congress is a "co-equal" to the Commander in Chief role

Chris Matthews is attempting to rewrite the Constitution. Again.

Tonight he insisted that Congress is "co-equal" to the President when it comes to determining strategy for the US military.

I'm not all that surprised. Ever since Vietnam Democrats have believed that they have the right to trump a President's decisions about waging war.

Chris Matthews is a moron if he thinks the Congress and the President are co-equal.

Congress issues declarations of war - at the request of the President - and either funds, or withholds funds from, military activities. The Senate also either confirms, or denies confirmation, nominees - made by the President - for Flag rank (General/Admiral).

Period.

I think it says something about what a bad, bad idea escalating the war in Afghanistan is (which the polls show opposition to) that the most hardcore conservatives-- who think Obama is a Nazi who will put them in camps-- actually support it.

If that's not a call for an immediate exit strategy, I don't know what is.

i had a moron lib telling people on a facebook status thread the other day that the president isn't the one who decides what troops go to war or return from war, that's the job of the congress.

yeah, and she believed it, too.

idiots. more and more proof that they're just not teaching how our government works in public schools anymore.
