When I came back from work today, I went to wash my hands, and there was no water in the faucet. I went down to check whether anybody has closed the main valve. I didn't see anything at first, but I did see water slowly dripping from the connection between the meter and the pipe. That's a lot to worry about. I'm glad everything seems to be working out in your favor. Any chance that you could by your apartment? Would you want to?

I'm not sure I'd want to. For the same amount of money I could buy a newer apartment in Petach-Tikva or some other town outside Tel-Aviv. And this apartment is in need of serious repairs. The landlords are decent, but they only fix things that are totally busted. All the water and sewage pipes, old metal things, need to be replaced. The doors and windows need to be at least repainted. The veranda needs to be insulated and rain-proofed. The plaster on the walls needs to be replaced and re-painted. And the horrible asbestos blinds/shutters need to be taken away carefully by a hazmat team and replaced with something less carcinogenic, thank you. This will cost some serious money on top of the price of the apartment itself. And until the situation with my granddad's land is clear, I can't afford any house at all.
