And damn, Dean blaming himself for everything, wanting his family, Sam in the cage being tortured, Crowley being Crowley, Dean taking Sam's soul.

I love everything about Supernatural and I love Lisa and Ben, but Dean pulled Sam out of hell. That's just what happened.

Poor Dean, just doesn't get how awesome he is - of course, that's one of the biggest reasons I love him. People who know they're awesome aren't nearly so much fun to play with. And I'm so glad to hear that Crowley seemed at all Crowley. I was all in love with my plot and then realized I'd never touched the Crowley character before...oops.

There are only two ways Swan Song could have gone in my head canon - Dean saved Sam or Dean jumped into hell with Sam. I really love Lisa and Ben, I even love Lisa/Dean, but no way Dean went to live a normal life while his brother was in hell.

I'm with you. They save each other no matter what, before anything else - that's just what they do. What's happening right now on the show I can actually buy with Sam, but for Dean to do it? Nope. Sam is all he's got or wants.

Now this, here, is what Canon should have been like! I loved everything about this fic: Dean's guilt, the parallels between Dean's time in Hell and Sam's experience in the Cage, the amulet, the codependency, Crowley's snark, all of it. Great job!
