We're reading Camus' The Stranger in English, now. Blech. The translation is flat like four-month-old soda, but to hear my French-Major-Mother tell it, so was Camus, so at least it's consistent. *pulls face* We read Season of Migration to the North by Tayeb Salih before this, which was interesting, even if other kids in my class found it a bit ( Read more... )

WooHoo I finally updated my journal
also good news. They are going to remake FF7 for the PS3 (they are keeping everything the same just changing graphics not story or dialoge)

I had to read The Stranger in French, for French AP. Trust me, that's just how Camus writes. It's symbolic.

IT IS BORING, IS WHAT IT IS. *huffs at Existentialists/Absurdists irritably* But we had to read Hawthorne, too, which is the other end of the spectrum, and equally un-fun, so. There is a balance between writing prose that's boringly simplistic, and writing prose that's like wading through armpit-deep mud. XDD

The characterizations were so cardboard. I think it was the dialogue. *pets Fatal Light* There is some kickass prose, but nobody reads Fatal Light but us, so. XDDD
